Job Purpose
The Psychosocial Support (PSS) Delegate for Venezuela will be responsible for oversees developing, leading and managing the PSS program led by the VRC and supported by the IFRC in the whole country. The main focus is to support the VRC staff and Volunteers in order to support them in their tasks and train them as needed. Other activities with communities will be assessed and analyzed for further implementation. This role will require excellent communication and organisational skills as well as promotes the effectiveness, compliance and quality of IFRC and Venezuelan Red Cross humanitarian response and programming.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Psychosocial Support (PSS) Delegate for Venezuela will:
· Support community-based protection assessments to identify specific mental health and psychosocial concerns, risks, needs of community in general with special attention to girls, boys, women and men and at-risk groups.
· Support assessments, response and mainstreaming of PSS knowledge, attitudes and practice across sectors.
· Support inclusion of PSS in strategic documents and support elaboration/revision of relevant documents and tools.
· Capacity of VRC and IFRC Psychosocial Support (PSS) national staff counterparts in PSS including Training of Trainers (ToT) in Psychological First Aid and/or community-based PSS.
· Capacity building of IFRC delegates in PSS and other related
· Support training and build capacity of VRC staff and volunteers in relevant PSS interventions.
· Ensure that PSS and protection referral pathways are available, understood and socialized within the programs.
· Support the provision of PSS for staff and volunteers including orientation on self-care and referral as needed to IFRC stress counsellors.
· Support PSS participation in relevant Movement and inter-agency coordination forums and working groups.
· Work with PGI to ensure awareness of staff and volunteers in the Code of Conduct and PSEA obligations of all humanitarian workers.
· Work closely with VRC to realize PSS Implementation Plan.Report on PSS, ensuring the inclusion of sex, age and disability disaggregated data (SADD).
· Ensure proper documentation of PSS activities, including best practices nationwide.
· Interact and, if necessary, advocate with local authorities concerned in matters of mental health and psychosocial support.
· Ensure an effective handover to successor for continuity and mitigating loss of institutional memory.
· Ensure effective work and coordination with ARO´s Health and Care Unit.
Education
Required
· Relevant university degree or equivalent qualification
· Basic Delegates Training Course or IMPACT, FACT, ERU, RDRT training
Experience
· Minimum of 5 years' experience in psychosocial support programming (PSS)
· Experience of working for Red Cross Red Crescent Movement in an international setting
· Demonstrated technical expertise in mental health and/or psychosocial support
· Skills in networking with partner organizations or agencies
· Experience in identifying and utilising referral pathways
· Experience in development of training PSS materials and manuals
Knowledge, skills and languages
· Experience in supporting, coaching and training of National Society personnel
· Self-supporting in computers (Windows, spreadsheets, word processing)
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
