Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Head of Country Cluster Support Team (“the HoCCST”), the key role of the National Society Development Senior Officer is to support the 13 Caribbean National Societies in updating and modernizing their way of operating by primarily addressing internal pressures related to the areas of National Society leadership, integrity, accountability, development strategy, financial sustainability and internal reforms. This will include related development areas such as Learning and Innovation, FDRS and Volunteering and Youth Development, Reference centres such as CADRIM, as prescribed in the Development operational plan and will liaise closely with other departments and technical units including those mentioned above and Partnership & Relationship Development, Communication, Legal Advocacy and Auxiliary Role and Planning, Monitoring & Reporting as appropriate to ensure that their actions contribute to the development of the National Societies. The Senior Officer keeps a lateral technical line to the National Society Development Regional Coordinator in Panama.
Education
- Relevant university degree or equivalent in social science, development studies, quality and organizational management, or business development
- Relevant post graduate qualification / technical training (or equivalent experience) - Preferred
Experience
- 5+ years working in international relief and development context; experience in supporting or managing capacity development, health and disaster risk management programmes
- 5+ years proven experience in successfully facilitating organizational development processes.3+ years’ experience working in a membership or volunteer-based organization - preferred
- Proven successful experience in strategy development, implementation and monitoring
- Proven successful experience in resource mobilization, partnership development and institutional communication
- Experience in the application of the various Federation tools including VCA, National Society self-assessment, YABC, CAS and Operational Alliance concepts - preferred
- Experience as a volunteer in the RCRC - preferred

- Sound experience in innovating, contributing to a learning culture, sharing knowledge and new approaches to engaging partners.

Languages
- Fluently spoken and written English
- Good command of another IFRC official language (Spanish) or a language relevant in the rest of the Caribbean countries of the region (i.e., French) - preferred
