Job Purpose:
The Regional Response and Recovery Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and supporting the two Operation Managers for the Hurricanes Irma and Maria Response and Recovery Operations that are ongoing in Antigua & Barbuda, Saint Kitts & Nevis and in Dominica. S/he will ensure effective coordination with the DCPRR department, with Americas Ops Coordinator and DRR/recovery Coordinator and other colleagues in the Panama offices, as necessary for the efficient implementation of the Plan of Action and related components. S/he will also work closely with the Resilience and NSD focal points in the CCSO, to allow the provision of holistic support to the three National Societies, and to allow them to be poised to take advantage of opportunities for mutual learning and capacity strengthening. The post holder will be focal point at regional level for early recovery and longer-term recovery and provide ad hoc support to operations as agreed in each case with Head of CCST and Head of DCPRR
Education
- Superior technical title or university degree
- Advanced training in disaster management/relief/logistics
Experience
- 10 years’ experience working for a humanitarian aid organisation in a developing country in the area of disaster management with preferably some of that time in the Americas. Areas of expertise include assessment, relief, logistics and communication
- 10 years’ experience analyzing, planning and managing disaster response operations, programmes
- and resources-
- 10 years of experience of managing and supporting staff
- Experience working with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement
- Experience planning and managing budget
- Experience writing narrative and financial reports
Knowledge, skillsandlanguages
- In-depth knowledge of complex DM operations management including preparedness and recovery programming
- Ability to work in a team, good communication and management skills
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural and cross-functional environment
- Problem solving skills
Ability to work to tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a stressful environment
