Curriculum, Graphics and Layout Consultant

Introduction: CBHFA is a global tool that is used in over 125 National Societies globally by over 7 million volunteers. CBHFA is under revision to ensure technical accuracy as well as embedding critical principles of behaviour change, psychosocial support and protection, gender and inclusion across all content. The Community Health team of IFRC Geneva is in the process of revising the full package of CBHFA materials for a global audience with 9 modules currently developed and another 8 remaining to be developed or finalised. Each modules’ materials consist of:

  • Volunteer Guide

  • Facilitator Guide

  • Community Toolkit

The full suite of CBHFA materials is in the process of being reviewed globally and requires revision in content and format by a technical health consultant familiar with RCRC context and familiar with CBHFA in development and emergency settings.

Objectives: The objectives of the consultancy include one or more of the following deliverables:

  1. Development of the eCBHFA Volunteer Topic Guides for Health in Emergencies and Communicable Disease Prevention modules

  2. Development of the eCBHFA Facilitator Topic Guides for Health in Emergencies and Communicable Disease Prevention modules

  3. Development of the eCBHFA Community Toolkit for each module

Deliverables:

  1. The eCBHFA Volunteer Topic Guides for Health in Emergencies and Communicable Disease Prevention modules will each be individual modules. Each module will be divided into individual topic guides, with the number dependent on the module and each following the established eCBHFA format with embedding of behaviour change principles, psychosocial support principles and protection, gender and inclusion principles. The consultant will coordinate with the technical consultant as s/he develops content at the appropriate readability levels. Support includes writing and revising content pre and post pilot, developing graphics and completing layout. (estimated days ~ 20 days)

  2. The eCBHFA Facilitator Topic Guides for Health in Emergencies and Communicable Disease Prevention modules will each be individual modules. Each module will be divided into individual topic guides, with the number dependent on the module and each following the established eCBHFA format with embedding of behaviour change principles, psychosocial support principles and protection, gender and inclusion principles. The consultant will coordinate with the technical consultant as s/he develops content at the appropriate readability levels. Support includes writing and revising content pre and post pilot, developing graphics and completing layout. (estimated days ~ 20 days)

  3. The eCBHFA Community Toolkit Health in Emergencies and Communicable Disease Prevention modules will each be individual modules. Each module will feature individual toolkits, with the number of tools dependent on the module and each tool providing clear guidance and support to learning. The consultant will coordinate with the technical consultant as s/he develops the content at the appropriate readability levels. The toolkit will feature full A4 page visuals, games, and tools to teach content in assorted topics. This toolkit must be developed in coordination with the development of the volunteer topics and facilitator guides. Support includes writing and revising content pre and post pilot, developing graphics and completing layout. (estimated days ~ 10 days)

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least ten years of experience in developing content at a low literacy level

  • At least five years of professional experience in curriculum and tools development

  • Experience in developing graphics to highlight and teach content

  • Experience in layout design to organisational style guide

  • Native English language writing and editing

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in tandem with other consultants

  • Initiative, resourcefulness, timeliness
