The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 192-member National Societies. The overall aim of the IFRC is “to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and
promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by National Societies with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.” The IFRC

The IFRC has five regional offices in Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. The IFRC also has country cluster delegation and country delegations throughout the world. Together, the Geneva Headquarters and
the field structure (regional, cluster and country) comprise the IFRC Secretariat.
IFRC's Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia works in support of 53 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Through its Country Cluster Support Teams and Country Offices, it provides coordination, financial and technical support for disaster operations and longer-term development programmes throughout the region. Our work focuses on disasters, climate, and crisis (including migration); health and care; National Society development; and inclusion, protection, and
engagement.
IFRC has launched an Emergency Appeal for Ukraine and impacted countries that is coordinated on a European regional level. ICRC, IFRC and numerous Partner National Societies are integrating their capacities to provide coordinated crisis response in Ukraine and the neighbouring countries.
This position is part of the Regional Communications Team in efforts to profile IFRC and National Society achievements in and out of emergencies and a large majority of the tasks and efforts of this position will be dedicated to the conflict in Ukraine and the ongoing humanitarian needs resulting from this conflict both inside the country and throughout the Europe region.
Job Purpose
The position will offer graphic design solutions for marketing and communications purposes across multiple IFRC platforms.
Duties and responsibilities:
Design campaigns that advance IFRC communications priorities
• Lead the development and design of creative and compelling visual solutions for multiple channels and products – online, mobile, digital, data visualization graphics, infographics, video graphics, as well as print and merchandise etc – in support of achieving IFRC’s campaigning objectives, advancing IFRC communications priorities and producing compelling design that engages audiences and responds to developments in the humanitarian landscape, in particular regarding the humanitarian needs due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
• Develop design solutions that are appropriate for publishing and distributing across multiple platforms.
• Project manage design and production and any outsourcing for priority products and materials.Strengthen regional communications approach
• Develop tools, templates and guidance that respond to diverse needs of IFRC and National Societies, support a coherent professional brand, compelling communication and reflect communications priorities across diverse settings.
• Manage logo licensing and monitor branding use and misuse as appropriate.
• Coordinate with colleagues on a global level to support a coherent visual identity of IFRC worldwide. Respond to communications opportunities and risks
• Scan the (social) media landscape for developments and trends and propose and design visual design ideas and products in response.
• Respond to new or emerging humanitarian priorities through the rapid development of creative assets for different media platforms (web, mobile, social, email, etc).
• Propose new and innovative solutions for packaging and sharing IFRC content in ways that audiences will engage with. Contribute to a high performing IFRC team

Education:
Required:
- Degree in graphic design, communications, production or related field
Work experience:
Required:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the design field at an international level (with
experience producing compelling design across print, photo, social, web and video)
Preferred:
- 5 years of experience in an international organization
Skills and competencies:
Required:
- Typography and a range of design software
- Working knowledge of multimedia design
- Working knowledge of mobile design and social media marketing
- Commitment to constant upskilling to keep pace with technology innovations and developments
- Excellent knowledge of DTP, reprographic and print processes
- Creative thinking including the ability to propose fresh design solutions to respond to communications challenges and advance communications priorities
- Demonstrated project management and planning skills
- Ability to work as a productive and positive member of a creative team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Fluently spoken and written English
- Fluent spoken Russian and Kyrgyz
Preferred:
- Good understanding of HTML, CSS, javascript and web design standards
- Illustration and animation skills
- Good command of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish or Arabic)
