Switzerland: Technical support to the IFRC Global Immunization Programme

In collaboration with IFRC EPI/Geneva, provide strategic framework for EPI project in CAR

  • Provide technical and medical guidance on issues around EPI and routine immunization, in collaboration with MOH and WHO.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of new national routine data system based on district data entry

  • Maintain communication with main CAR EPI partners—MOH, UNICEF, WHO, and GAVI—about the strategic framework and overall evaluation

  • Ensure that the baseline survey is conducted on time

  • Help plan a date and conduct a second survey to evaluate progress

  • Evaluate overall progress and provide feedback to IFRC EPI/Geneva and partners about any potential adjustments that might be needed.

  • Explore strengthening EPI surveillance in collaboration with WHO and MOH EPI and IDSR colleagues, potentially building on the mobile phones supplied by the Global Fund project at the sous prefecture and health facility levels.

  • Provide technical guidance on all aspects of micro-planning and establishing a high quality vaccination system at both fixed sites and outreach services

  • Ensure that the CAR National Red Cross Society is fully involved in providing supervision of the community aspects, including partnerships with health facilities and ensure that the outreach services are conducted regularly and on time.

  • Study any additional information systems at the community level and health facility that might be needed for optimal management of vaccination at those levels.
