Job Purpose
As part of the NSDV team, design and implement an online community strategy for SOKONI, managing engagement, learning, interactivity within the Network, and fostering community spirit. The intern will work in coordination with the NSD and PSK departments across the Regions, NS and branches, Reference Centers and the Communications team, ensuring that SOKONI is widely used and served its purpose during the COVID-19 emergency response.
Key tasks and responsibilities
• Work in coordination with the Volunteering Regional Units, NSD Regional Teams, National Societies, and the different departments in the Secretariat in the creation of a promotional strategy for the platform
• Create engaging text, image and video content for promoting SOKONI in different social media platforms
• Build relationships with users of the platform, respond to their comments on the forums and foster a sense of community.
• Provide training in the usage of the platform, developing video tutorials on how to register, participate in forums and use all the other resources in the platforms.
• Monitor statistics in the platform concerning the amount of users, the most visited pages, the percentage of interactions, the number of blogs and forums; and make timely reports to be shared with the rest of the team.
Management:
The intern will report to the AP Regional Volunteering Officer. The intern will liaise closely with the NSDV team in Geneva.
Requirements
- A university degree in communications or other social sciences required
- Oral and written communication skills
- Expertise in digital community management and engagement
- Demonstrated experience managing online communities and creating content for social media accounts.
- Dynamic, creative and outgoing personality
- Familiar with the Red Cross and Red Crescent network and have experience in international humanitarian and development work
- Technical skills: Confident in using online platforms and social networks.
- Frontend/Web development: Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript and React.js is an asset;
- Language skills: Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and presentation skills in English. Other IFRC languages (French, Spanish or Arabic) being an advantage.
The intern will report to the AP Regional Volunteering Officer. The intern will liaise closely with the NSDV team in Geneva.
Selected candidate will be based remotely in his/her current location, and the internship opportunity is open to candidates from Asia Pacific region.
