Job Purpose: The Senior Instructional Designer manages the ongoing development of online learning solutions by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Lead and advise the Red Cross/Red Crescent network on effective use and development of innovative learning solutions. In addition, this role effectively contributes to the development of relevant HR policies and procedures.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and manage online learning platform to support IFRC Secretariat Staff and National Societies Staff and Volunteers:
- Develop and manage online learning solutions targeting IFRC Secretariat staff and National Societies Staff and volunteers in cooperation with subject matter experts.
- Advise, support and assist IFRC Secretariat and National Societies to set up, roll out and manage online learning solutions.
- Constantly ensure quality control by reporting, measuring and improving learning outcomes (i.e. registrations and completion rates, satisfaction surveys) of online courses; and advise, support and assist National Societies and subject matter experts to increase learning impact.
- Manage and disseminate the IFRC online learning catalogue and other communication tools.
Lead and coordinate the network of Red Cross/Red Crescent learning practitioners in order:
- To promote higher professional standards among learning/training professionals;
- To seek and implement innovative solutions, such as mobile learning, new learning design and technologies.
Contribute to the development of Human Resources policies/procedures related to staff development and learning by:
- Develop relevant HR policies and procedures in collaboration with the number of different stakeholders;
- Lead and contribute to identified HR projects;
- Research identified HR topics and keep abreast of established and emerging trends with a view of pinpointing best practices.
Contribute to build an effective, high quality HR Department, by:
- Ensuring business continuity within the HR Programs and Policies Unit;
- Ensuring excellent collaboration with HR colleagues and contributing to their professional development as suitable;
- Participating in the development of a customer service-oriented culture that values proactivity, continuous improvement, innovation, and high performance.
Other duties:
- Contribute actively to other HR Department activities as assigned by the Director of HR;
- Perform any other duties as required.
How to apply:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, or other equivalent curriculum focusing on learning. - required.
Master Academic Degree in the field of education or psychology or equivalent.
Academic Degree in adult education, pedagogy or instructional design. - preferred.
Experience:
All required:
5-8 relevant NGO-setting experience in e-learning, social learning, and mobile learning environments.
5-8 experience in organizational design, industrial organization or human resources.
Experience in design and development of online educational resources and curriculum development programmes.
Experience leading teams in all phases of the project life cycle, especially in learning, competencies and performance fields.
Experience in developing networks and coalitions to accomplish goals by building on strengths.
