Information Management and Cash-Based Interventions Internship to support Disaster and Crisis Department in Americas Regional Office

Background

The information management (IM) and Cash-Based Interventions (CBI) components in emergency operations are considered critical tasks that require continuous follow-up and the development of systematic work processes. To cover IM and CBI needs and maintain business continuity, external support is required. An IM and CBI intern will support with the collection of relevant data and information analysis, as well as with translation of short documents in English/Spanish.

Main Purpose(s) of Internship

  • To support the IM Officer in data analysis through the use of tools for this purpose and updating of database.
  • To support the Cash-Based Interventions Coordinator with the update of database and translation of global cash positioning documents.

Expected results

  1. Updated database of operations and similar platforms that would be prioritized for the purpose of this internship.

  2. Production of secondary data analysis.

  3. Cash global key documents translated to English/Spanish.

  4. Updated database of regional cash-based interventions.

  5. Completed cash surge capacity database.

  6. Perform any other duties as required.

Timeframe

The internship period is 3 months (with possible extension).

Activities:

· Mandatory online basic courses of the Red Cross Red Crescent World.

· Briefing on the structure and organigram of the Americas Regional Office.

· Briefing on tools required for the development of the IM deliverables.

· Daily collection and updating of emergency operations database.

· Development of secondary data analysis and other products.

· Participation in Weekly Operations monitoring meetings.

· Completion of the regional counting cash template missing data.

· Collating of cash surge database.

Competencies

  1. Basic knowledge in information management and data analysis.

  2. Proficient in MS Office, mainly Excel, Google sheets or similar spreadsheet tools.

  3. Database skills (desired).

  4. Ability for researching.

  5. Currently pursuing a University degree or finalizing one (preferred).
