Job Purpose

Under the coordination of the Head of Country Cluster and the Regional Communications manager, the Communications Senior Officer for the Country Cluster Support Team - Trinidad (English-speaking Caribbean & Suriname) will assist in promoting the image and reinforcing the profile of the International Federation by strengthening the communications capacity of the programmes in the region, in line with the Strategy 2020 and the Inter American Framework for action, 2016-2020, ensuring effective internal and external communication into four business groups - services to vulnerable people; capacity building and knowledge management; humanitarian diplomacy and governance, management leadership and critical corporate services. In addition, Senior communications Officer, will support and supervise the production of a regular flow of communications materials (publications, leaflets, videos, web and social media content) related to the IFRC core areas.

Education

  • University degree in Communications /Journalism / Public Relations
  • Professional qualification in Audio-visual Products and Community Management
  • Professional qualification in Web Edition and Graphic Design - Preferred

Experience

  • 3+ years' experience working in the communications / advocacy field
  • Experience working with media, public relations and communications (including multimedia and social media tools)
  • Experience working in graphic design and developing graphic projects- Preferred
  • Professional experience in a National Society / Red Cross Red Crescent Movement- Preferred

Knowledge, SkillsandLanguages

  • Excellent writing / Content development skills
  • Self-supportive in computers (including web and design related software/hardware)
  • Audio-visual skills (video / photography)
  • Graphic skills
  • Skills in training and developing staff- Preferred

Languages:

  • Fluently spoken and written English
  • Good command of another IFRC official language (Spanish, French) - Preferred
