Regional Migration Senior Officer

Under the guidance of the Regional M&D Coordinator the position holder will provide guidance and technical support as requested to National Societies within Europe Region and IFRC teams with a focus on facilitating coordination and collaboration, peer to peer and exchange spaces among National Societies in the Migration and displacement file. The M&D senior officer will be responsible for improving coherence, analysis, longer term programming and better response in IFRC operations in the migration work in Europe and Central Asia with special focus on the Ukraine and impacted countries Emergency Appeal and the integration of refugee's framework. As senior officer the position holder will act as a pro-active member of the regional M&D team and provide high quality technical advice, comprehensive insights and support.

He/she will work closely with the M&D team and the broader HDCC Teams as well as with the regional Team for advocacy and visibility of the migration work in the Europe Region in line with the Migration strategy and work plan of the migration team.

Priority will be given to work that further strengthens the implementation of the IFRC Strategy on Migration, the 31st IC Migration Resolution, programme development and implantation, and networking in relation to migration-related issues in Europe Region.

Required:

  • A minimum of 3 years of practical working experience in the field of migration with an RC/RC National Society or with another humanitarian organisation and knowledge about RC activities.
  • Experience with a National Society or other RCRC Movement components.
  • Training experience.
  • Proven knowledge of Forced Displacement, Refugee and Migration issues.
  • Good analytical thinking, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong skills in use of computer (Windows Office tools).
  • Good inter-personal, diplomatic and communication skills, ability and willingness to work in a team.
  • Fluently spoken and written English.

Preferred:

  • Degree in international development, international law, political sciences or other related degree.
  • Postgraduate Diploma or training in Migration or equivalent.
  • Applicants with a migratory background are specifically invited to apply for this position.
  • Good command of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish or Arabic)
  • Other languages: Russian

Comments: This is a national staff position open to Hungarian nationals and others who are legally eligible to work in Hungary. Candidates must be able to provide proof of their eligibility to work in Hungary.
