The DREF communications focal point will report to the Donor Communications lead in Geneva. They will work closely with the Donor Communications lead to carry out the DREF communications strategy. They shall be the main liaison with the Partnership and Resource Development Department (PRD) and the DREF team to source for information and content, coordinate communications support, and ensure the development of communication materials according to the planned activities within the agreed timeframe.
Required:
- University Degree in journalism, communications or international relations.
- Minimum of five years as a communications specialist with at least two years in an international humanitarian context, public health, international development or related field.
- Minimum 3 years working in donor communications.
- Demonstrated success in implementing a strategy as part of a campaign.
- Strong spoken and written English including proven experience in drafting compelling communications content for a variety of communications channels.
- Team player with high level of independence.
- Demonstrated understanding and use of digital content and platforms for external communications and advocacy purposes.
- Comfortable working and communicating in a diverse and international environment.
- Demonstrated understanding and use of social media for communications and fundraising purposes.
- Strong professional and management skills and ability to both be proactive and ready to respond rapidly to changing needs from senior management.
- Ability to lead and manage in a diverse cultural and social context.
- Analytical and strategic thinking.
- Strong relationship management skills including ability to rapidly build and extend professional networks.
- Excellent writing and public presentation.
