In close cooperation and under the guidance of the Senior Officer, Strategic Engagement and Partnership (Compliance and Donor Development), the Strategic Engagement (SEP) Officer, is responsible for ensuring a systemic approach in working with government donors and partners and contributing to increased funding from government donors.
The SEP officer will support research and development efforts in building new partnerships and will contribute to the effective maintenance of strong and growing relations with existing government donors, including through coordinating development of relevant briefing notes and meetings, developing funding proposals, ensuring grant and pledge management, and relevant and timely reporting.
The SEP Officer will work to enable a close and cooperative working relationship between SEP team and various functions with ROE as well as with the respective technical departments in Geneva. The job holder will support the implementation of the ROE SEP Strategic Plan thus contributing to the implementation of the Global partnerships and resource development strategic plan.
The role will also require extensive coordination with colleagues from different thematic and operational departments and will also require extensive collaboration with support departments.
Required:
- University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in working with government partnerships and resource development functions at a regional level for an international organization.
- Experience in developing proposals and ensuring strong communication from the start to the end of a relationship.
- Proven ability to translate strategy into action.
- Strong understanding of public sector aid architecture and ODA trends, humanitarian and development aid debates, SDG multi-stakeholder funding instruments.
- Results-oriented and demand-driven individual.
- Knowledge of and skills in tracking open calls for proposals from key donors.
- Outstanding networking, representational, communication and negotiation skills contributing to a client-focused culture.
- Capacity identifying and articulating strategic issues, risks and priorities to provide sound advice to senior management.
- High degree of discretion, tact and sensitivity in dealing with internal and external clients and stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work within a multi-cultural, multilingual, multidisciplinary environment.
- Fluently spoken and written English.
